Practice Profile, Landscape Architecture

BBUK
BBUK is a small practice based in London, established in 2002 by Jonathan Bell and Harriet Bourne who are now driven solely by Landscape Architecture. Previously, the two held different areas of expertise; Bell worked in the construction management sector for a number of years whereas Bourne was extremely familiar with fashion, before graduating with a degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design.
Since 2002, BBUK have obtained a number of awards through their unique and impecable design tactics in small to large scale projects. They humbly show off an impressive portfolio of work, be this through completed projects (e.g. Froslovs, Sweden) and those that are near in completion (e.g. ''Bel Air Garden'', California, USA). They tend to work around a variety of different disciplines, from commercial work, landscape strategy, public realm and surprisingly, art. Unlike countless other Landscape practices, BBUK are against the fixation of personality on a site, this means that they do not hold a specific design style. Instead they focus on what is essential. They identify the real assets that any given site possesses, these could include it's ecology, unique landform and structure, existing vegetation and even it's urban context; ''to find the extraordinary in the ordinary''. In return, this well rounded approach towards Landscape Architecture benefits both the site and client. BBUK's great achievements within a very short lifespan can only lead to high expectations of a future fulfilled with prosperity.
A handful of their work exists throughout a number of countries, while the majority are located throughout the UK. Below, we can see some of BBUK's outstanding projects, complete and incomplete.
